We are duly in receipt of yours of the 27th March re the Asbestos Sheeting for the above.

As we could not obtain "Lammit" Sheeting, it being of German manufacture, we bought the nearest on an approved sample, and though we have seen our Sub Contractors yet they will not admit any liability on the grounds that they supplied Sheeting to sample and that it was passed by the Inspector and duly delivered on board ship with a clean Bill of Lading.

Although we do not admit any liability on our part, yet in view of our long relations with your good selves this Firm is willing without prejudice to pay the sum of half the value of the goods, say about £60. in the hope of a friendly settlement, and we trust you will appreciate and agree to this.
